I love romance, chemistry and Paris. So I knew I was going to love this book, it blew me away. Thank you for letting me be part of this wonderful blog tour.
With the one that got away!
Celebrity chef James Harrington never expected to find himself face-to-face with Chloe, his first love, again… Especially, with her working as a chambermaid at his luxury hotel! Their chemistry’s as strong as ever, but she’s hiding a secret. Can James convince Chloe that their love is worth taking a chance on – again?
Katie Fforde wrote, when honouring her with the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 2019 said – “Liz Fielding’s books, with their warmth, humour and emotion, have charmed millions of readers. She is a true star of the romantic fiction genre.”
You never forget you first love and that was exactly the same for James and Chloe. An unexpected meeting years later, proved the chemistry was definitely still there. It felt that magical, you could feel the chemistry through the pages.
However working as a chambermaid wasn’t the best way to run into her first love. As we all know, life and romance doesn’t always run smoothly! Especially between two people who have been through a lot in life!
I adored all the characters. James, a high flying chef who was endearing, caring, yet sometimes a little quick to jump in without thinking. Chloe with the most stunning and beautiful soul. Hardworking, having several jobs to provide for herself she was literally run off her feet. I felt a massive sadness for Chloe, I wanted her to feel happy and free from all of her past. What she had been through was heart breaking.
Sally was a wise character I loved the relationship she had with James. They had such a nice and playful way with each other. Wasn’t Marie just the kindest, sweetest lady. I wanted to just hug her. I need a visit to the Chateau.
This was a passionate and deep love story. That left me feeling emotional. With some of the most sweetest moments, it will leave you smiling for a long period of time. The romance of it all, was very beautiful.
I have a strong desire to go to Paris and this book was exactly what I needed right now with not being able to travel. Escapism at its finest. I have only been to Paris once when i was a teenager and have the longest to do list when I finally get there again. Well when Covid allows.
I enjoyed reading all of the places mentioned in Paris and loved the way Liz described them. It was like you was walking through the streets of Paris with her. Eiffel Tower, Louvre, a cruise along the Seine, an open top tour bus, Notre Dame, Arc De Triomphe and many more are on my list that was mentioned. I have also added Bouquinites to my list, as this vintage open air book shop along the Seine riverbank sounds like my kind of heaven. I also loved the way Liz described the food and wine, my mouth was watering whilst I was reading.
After I wrote this, I had to listen to Unchained Melody, which just brought back all the feels for me and left me giddy! I absolutely loved this beautiful book and if you love romance, I highly recommend reading this. It was special throughout. I had tears at the end of it.
