After loving Mr Right Across The Street, I was very excited when I found out Kathryn Freeman had a new book out. Thank you for letting me be part of the blog tour for this amazing book.
Welcome to the Beach Reads Book Club…where love is just a page away…
When Lottie Watt is unceremoniously booted out of her uptight book club for not following the rules, she decides to throw the rulebook out the window and start her own club – one where conversation, gin and cake take precedent over actually having read the book!
The Beach Reads Book Club soon finds a home for its meetings at Books by the Bay, a charming bookshop and café owned by gorgeous, brooding Matthew Steele, and as the book club picks heat up, so too does the attraction between Matt and Lottie.
If there’s anything Lottie has learned from the romances she’s been reading, it’s that the greatest loves are the ones hardest earned.
A love letter to chicklit, romance, romcoms, whatever you want to call them!

An uplifting and laugh out loud book that is every bookworms dream book. Filled with hot burning chemistry, romance, family drama, lost, friendship and a book club who love gin and cake! What is not to love?!
You will read this and will want to be part of The Beach Reads Book Club or join a book club and get involved in all the fun and laughter they share.
Matt and Lottie – they say opposites attract, well these two sure were very different in more ways than one but that connection, wow sizzling chemistry or what!! Lottie the friend we all want to have. Who is fun, colourful, bubbly, sociable and always willing to help others. Whereas Matt is deep, intense, serious, less of a sociable person and a lot more reserved than Lottie. He is the handsome book shop owner we all want to be coupled up with, who knew exactly how romance should be done. Lottie manages to convenience him to hold her book club in his shop and that’s when all the fun really starts.
I found the friendships heart-warming, as different as they all were, they all shared a love for the book club, it was their escapism. Lucky for me I am part of a book club and parts of this story reminded me of this. We started off talking about books and now we talk about life, support each other, listen and are there to help when its needed.
All the characters were great, yet Audrey was my favourite, wasn’t she hilarious, with her quick naughty one liners and love for gin. She kept me giggling the whole way through! Also Sally never one to hold back, had me laughing how she come out with things before thinking!
As much as it was romance and comedy; I felt this book had a deeper feel to it which I really enjoyed reading. I liked the journey we were taken on both family and friendship elements. You felt empathy for the characters, especially Matt and his family, which just made you like them even more so!
I loved all the books mentioned and will be adding all the books that I haven’t got around to reading yet to the top of my to be read pile!
A wonderful book that I highly recommend.
A former pharmacist, I’m now a medical writer who also writes romance. Some days a racing heart is a medical condition, others it’s the reaction to a sexy hero.
With a husband who asks every Valentine’s Day whether he has to buy a card (yes, he does), any romance is all in my head. Then again, his unstinting support of my career change proves love isn’t always about hearts and flowers – and heroes come in many disguises.
